Stilettos to Steeltoes

You know that old saying, ‘Fake it till you make it’? With this topic, I take you on my journey of how I broke the mold in every possible way. Armed with pink nail polish, pregnant at community college, trash hunting, and flipping houses; I have learned how to imitate confidence, develop an optimistic mindset and ‘make it’ in a male-dominated industry. Prioritizing the things I love, learning by failing, and having a determined attitude is how I achieve the results I want.

My Future is Not Determined — I am

Determination is the process of establishing something exactly by calculation or research. While my journey hasn’t necessarily been a google map for my life, I am finding the buried treasure in her own way. Learning about my native heritage, being a single mom, and a woman in trades; I push against stigmas and embrace my own life. In this topic, I share how life is too short to waste time worrying about fitting inside a box. Happiness and success can be achieved when you build your own.

Women in Trade

It’s astounding how so many trades are still considered “boys’ clubs”. Yes, women are allowed in, but putting up with stereotyping and misogyny is still far too common for the century we’re in. Things have changed a lot - but I’m here to talk about how they need to change faster, and what we, as women in trade, can do to help. Past, present, future - let’s talk about equality and freedom in trades.
